Petros Salatas
STUDIES
Petros Salatas, baritone, was born in Athens. He graduated from the Greek Theological school at the university of Athens.
He got his monody diploma( excellent unanimously) with Lina Tentzeri, soloist in the Greek National Opera of Greece. He continued his studies as a postgraduate in Hannover in Germany with the American mezzo soprano Carol Ritchardson Smith.
He got a 4-year scholarship from Onassion institute (2008-2012). In Branunscweig in Germany he performed the role of Escamillo (Carmen).
From 2009 till 2013 he went to Milan in order to study with the baritone Gianni Maffeo. Then he went to Padova and studied with the famous tenor Gianfranco Cecchele. Finally he went in Bologna where he studied with the baritone Paolo Coni.
SEMINARS
In 2005 he attended a seminar with Renato Bruson, in which audition was compulsory in order to participate and it was exclusively for ten participants.
In 2006 he attended a seminar with Raina Kabaivaska in Siena.
In 2007 he attended a seminar in Butenbok with Carol Richardson Smith.
In 2011 he attended a seminar with Dimitris Kavrakos in the conservatory of Athens.
INTERNATIONAL COMPETITIONS
In 2014 in Barcelone he became a finalist in the distinct competition Francesco Vignas in which the chairman of the committee was the famous baritone Juan Pons. There he sang in the liceo theatre of Barcelone.
In October 2014, he participated in the international competition in Pienza, Italy, in which he won the 3rd award.
LEADING ROLES
From December 2010 till now he has been a soloist in the Greek National Opera and has participated in various productions such as Big Brother in 'Puss in boots', Kromof in "Vedova Allegra", Iakuside in" Madama Butterfly ", Baron in" Traviata" , Monterone in" Rigoletto."
He has been a protagonist in two modern German operas :
1)" Die flut"by Kurt Weil.
2)"Der angel auf dem Schiff" by Glanert.
He has also been a protagonist in the "Cunning little Vixen" by Janacek in the role of the forester and in" Madama Butterfly " as Sharpless.
In 2011 and 2012 in the opera" Traviata" he performed the role of Giorgio Germont participating in six performances and in 2015 and 2017 he performed the role of Tonio from the opera " Pagliacci" participating in 15 performances.
In March 2013, he has had a cover role for Alfio in "Cavalleria Rusticana " in which he covered the generale reahersal as well as a cover role for the role of Rigoletto for the opera" Rigoletto" for the National Opera of Greece.
In September 2017 he performed as a soloist the "Rigoletto" in the Municipal Theatre of Pireus. At the end of September 2017 he performed as a protagonist the role of "Minoas" for the omonymous opera by Marielli Sfakianaki which has been a first International transmission by the Greek National Television in the Palace of Knossos in Crete
In October 2017 he debuted the role of "Scarpia" for the opera "Tosca" by Puccini in the Municipal Theatre of Larissa city in Greece.
In March and August 2018 he performed as a solist in opera gala in War Museum in Athens and open municipal theater of Zante island, during at opera festival of Zante.
He has participated in numerous concerts in Greece as well as abroad. He has also collaborated with the symphonic orchestra of E.R.T. (Greek National Broadcasting),performing arias of Italian repertoire.
In December 2018, under the auspices of the Under the Auspices of H.E. the President of the Hellenic Republic Mr. Prokopios Pavlopoulos, starred Greece in the oratorio of the composer Kostas Moustakas "Requiem for the Victims of the Nazis" at the Νational Opera of Greece.
In June 2019 he starred on the Νational Opera of Greece in the role of nurturer in the opera Bost's Medea of composer Nikos Kypourgos.
In December 2019 and summer of 2021 he participated as a soloist in three opera gala under the auspices of the Municipality of Agia Paraskevi and the North Attica region at The American College of Greece (Deree) and the Public Athletic Center of Agia Paraskevi.
In October 2021 he starred in the opera STACHOMAZOCHTRA by Papadiamantis in the role of Margaritis composed by Kostas Moustakas.
Ιn December 2021 he was awarded from the international group UNESCO Piraeus and Islands and from international Action Art with his.
Participation in the concert "AVE MARIA" CHRISTMAS OPERA GALA MARIA CALLAS.
On April 21, 2022 he made his debut as a soloist in Pagliacci in the role of Silvio in the opera Romana Craiova of Romania.
